Quantity Function

A quantity field and column that would allow the user to collapse an item with a quantity greater than one into a single line item (similar to the way accessories function). This would free up a considerable amount of screen space while making the project environment considerably more manageable. This method would maintain the ability to enter unique details for each item (such as serial #). A quantity column would be added that automatically displays the total number of items associated with each grouping (or 1 if there is only a single item).

We recently upgraded to v18. I thought I'd stumbled across a bug, but it was the new quantity function.
We'll all really need to add the quantity column to the layout of our project items view or we might miss what looks like a single line item with a mysteriously high install price. Without seeing that column, you end up with hidden multiples. They'll show on reports, but not in your items view.
In the highly usual case where we need to have the discrete line items, we'll have to right-click that item with quantity >1, and under "Quantity", choose "Convert to Quantity of 1" to create individual line items like we're used to.
Also keep in mind, items with quantity >1 don't have separate Component IDs and, I suspect (haven't tried it yet), would exist as only 1 item for placement on plans, elevations, schematics, etc.
There's another twist to understand too. The count of accessories appear based on only one parent item. This is probably best, but it looks odd, for example, having a quantity of 6 Sonos Amps, with a quantity of 1 Ethernet patch cord as an accessory, but it is actually 1 per each amp and calculates the installation price correctly.

I suppose the best advice is to look at the v18 release notes and watch at least the first 15min of the video that explains this.

Or add a field to a catalog item to handle like bulk wire looks. this would be great for credentials or licenses that have to ordered in bulk

I agree with Mikhail & Patrick. This is a major issue especially when dealing with items of large quantities. There is no easy way to edit large quantities quickly.

As a part of this it would also be great if you could then edit that Quantity column for bulk edits.
