Mass Updates on Project Exporer
complete
John Mcdermott
I would love to see the ability to mass update fields in Project Explorer such as the project status or "progress" field. I have hundreds of projects in my archive that are assigned old statuses, making it difficult to search for projects by status. The same could apply to "Approved", "Created On", or custom fields.

This would save a lot of time for me as well. I'm not the best at updating project status and I've got a lot of projects that could use a mass update. Thanks!

Kevin Frye As part of our ISO process users are supposed to update the "Status" of a project before it gets archived and some forget, I would like to be able to select multiple projects and do a mass update to the "Status" in Active as well as Archive to "Completed" or one of the others I have set, currently I would need to unarchive, then check it out then change the status.

We should not allow mass update of created on fields. I would argue this is akin to a filesystem integrity issue and should not be arbitrarily updated.

Kevin Frye: As far as I'm aware, this isn't the "created on" of the actual project file. Just the project itself in D-Tools. I could be wrong.
And if restricted to admin rights or whatever preference the admin sets, I wouldn't think this would be an arbitrary change. Either way I think I was just looking for examples, and things like Start Date and End Date are more what I'm referring to. The bigger issue I'm having is trying to go back through our project archives and update statuses, "assigned to", start and end dates, etc to our now developed standards. I currently have to pull them from the archive and update the info on each project individually rather than doing it from Project Explorer.

John Mcdermott: I understand the request and do agree that it would be nice to be able to easily apply your standards to older projects. Can I ask why you are pulling projects from the archive and editing them?
John Mcdermott
Kevin Frye: Back in our earlier days of using D-Tools, it took a while to fully develop our project statuses and how we were going to use start and end dates. These statuses being incorrect to our current standards adversely affects how we would use Dashboard and how new sales staff would see where they were left off (rejected/completed). Unfortunately we can't change this info without pulling them from the and checking them out.

In addition to this, allow the ability to adjust Start/End Dates and additional fields.
