Category Specific CompID formatting AND CompID format based on wire connections

It would be VERY helpful if we could set a custom CompID format to an item category/sub-category instead of blanket categorization like items and labor. For example our CompID formats for a data plate are different than what we would want to assign to an audio DSP.
Plate format might be [floor#]-[room#]-[plate#]
DSP format might be [room#]-[rack#]-[device#]
Having to adjust our CompID format each time we are managing an item type is tedious.
We already have something sort of in place for wire since we can set different formats for wire types, this should also be the case for equipment items too.
Also, it would be VERY helpful for infrastructure cable planning to be able to apply a port number to a wire compID. For example. If I have a 2-port data plate in a room with homerun cat6 cables running back to an IDF.
Using the same formatting I have listed above the plate ID might be: 'L1-403-DP01'
If I could connect two bulk cat 6 cables to this plate and regenerate their CompID to reflect the plate port numbers, for example the wire CompIDs would be:
'L1-403-DP01-P1'
'L1-403-DP01-P2'
it would be a game changer for us and solve a ton of CompID issues that D-Tools makes very difficult to resolve.
